Rock Solid
I like to meet new people at Rock Solid. |
Rock Solid was set up in Wednesfield High School in April 2015 in an aid to tackle the schools need for a support group for some of their vulnerable students or those in need of extra support.
The students that were identified as possibly benefiting from joining Rock Solid, were invited to attend initially on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday Lunchtime. |
We were greeted with a wide range of students across different year groups who were having issues within the school such as bullying, behavioural issues and social interaction.
The students quickly opened up about the issues they were having on a daily basis. Some students were also struggling with a sense of hopelessness and a desire to 'end it all'. How awful that anyone should feel suicide is the only viable option in their situation. But thankfully, Rock Solid has become a place of safety, love and acceptance for these students to go to. |
I can talk to my friends, without all the people who deliberately try to find me during lunch. |
It's fun! |
Over the years that we have been running Rock Solid at Wednesfield High, we have seen new friendships made and students grow in confidence. Some students grew in so much confidence through Rock Solid, that they have had total transformation in character and demeanour.
We have also seen a number of the students attend our local youth group Live Wire, where they can socialise, make new friends, have fun on games and sports equipment, go on youth trips, and get involved with community activities and services run by Wednesfield Christian Centre. |
